Atlanta CL sweptline
Hello guys, I don't get back here to the Sweptline forum too often since I switched to "brand C" but do drop in occasionally to check up on what's going on. I saw this ad in the parts section of CL today and almost made me want to go buy it. Since I don't need another project I thought I'd post it here in case anyone near Atlanta might be interested.

My bro-in-law still has my 69 W100 and I drive a couple of times a year. He loves it and will never sell it.

Early front clip, 67-68 cab, 71 bed, transplant 440, SWB, easy to fix roof and door frame damage - nicely hobcobbled together!

"Original" 440! Hah! You an look at the 1978-vintage ThermoQuad, the valve covers, and the other attachments to know that is a crock, even if a 440 were available in these!
Plus, how does a tree dent a cab upward???
This is a candidate to become a roofless cab custom.

Re: Atlanta CL sweptline
Patrick, the guy obviously pushed the cab back up after removing the tree. Probably so he could get in and move it around his yard.
Cab top is a fairly easy replacement. Just have to drill a ton of spotwelds and know how to mig weld.
Definitely not an "original to the truck" 440 though. But, the 440 is an asset, not a liability.

I didn't mention the inaccuracies in the ad since this is the Sweptline forum and I knew that everyone here would immediately pick up on the wrong information. Even with all of the mix-and-match parts I'd still be interested if I was in the market for a project right now. Since it is a 68 model it could have come with a big block engine although not a 440. I wonder if the top wasn't pulled up like it is by being lifted with a forklift. The ad says it runs and drives.

Re: Atlanta CL sweptline
I wouldn't even bother with a truck like that. The front of the bed is damaged as well. The whole cab is probably tweaked and would take major work to straighten out. The paint isn't original and looking at the bed end cap area it looks like possible hidden rust or damage was filled and is cracking. The rest of the truck could be the same way. I was also thinking the roof looks like it was lifted with a forklift.

Re: Atlanta CL sweptline
In the pics, there is no distortion of metal at the hood, fenders, dash, or lower door openings of the cab, so there is no evidence that the cab is likely tweaked. There is enough positive info to warrant a personal inspection. As I said above, the damage shown from the tree is pretty easy to fix if u want a big block SWB truck. Its a hella lot simpler project than the rotted and battered crew cab that was recently purchased and shipped cross country!

Re: Atlanta CL sweptline
Roof lifted up looks to me to be classic jack-all damage. I know this cause when I rolled my 66 in 1976 and we put it back on its wheels, A jack-all was used to lift the collapsed cab. ![Turn Pale :pale](./images/smilies/icon_pale.gif)

Re: Atlanta CL sweptline
The cab is junk and unsavable, except perhaps the dash. The bed could have a replacement front panel installed and saved that way.
So, if a guy had a good cab, doors, glass, and maybe the seat; then he'd be good to go. The money is too much for this one, to me. Half that might be a buy.

I did not see a price listed for it. I would be interested in his fenders and the hood, the rest is scrap to me.
