Transmission Question

Post by rjmeuer »

Not a Swept so posted here.

1997 Land Rover Discovery 4.0L Manual Transmission.

Here is what its doing;
there is an issue shifting between gears. Once the truck is in gear things seem to be just fine, the issue is the shifter binds and it won't go into gear. I disassembled the center console to see if there was something in the way but nothing was visible.

Guys got any clues? Transmission needs to be rebuilt :pale ?

dads toyota did this very thing. not sure if its th same set up, but may be worth looking at. there is a bushing where the shifter handle meets the linkage. little nylon cup that the shifter arm ball fits in. when this gets worn, it doesnt navigate the shifter thru the gates properly making for some interesting shiftin. :Thumbsup

Has that got the BMW 4.0L engine in it? and does it have the ZF transmission?
