Re: Starter Relay

SR3 and SR4 Photos showing the extra pin. (SR3 has the Extra Pin) It also looks like the pin on the SR4 is just grounded to the body, but can't say for sure. Just saying thats what it looks like.

Yep, sorry about that :withstupid. SL778 is the right # for the mechanical switch.

Anyone know if some of our trucks came with a hydraulic brake light switch? All of the books show a listing for both types.

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

I'm not in your area, but I'm sure some Napa stores are better than others. I recommend you keep the best people and inventory you possibly can in your market. Word gets around. Thank you. We try pretty hard, and we definitely have the best parts people in our area. 4 different guys with over 25 ye...

Re: NAPA vs Other parts stores.

Thanks for the input. NAPA Auto Parts - about 6000 stores (http://www.napaautojobs.com/aboutus.php) Autozone - about 4000 stores (http://www.autozoneinc.com/about_us/our_company/index.html) (and not sure how their able to put #1 parts store in America as NAPA is always higher in sales than they are)...

all we have to do is measure the bed and find another (newer model) truck with the same dimensions. Shouldn't be too hard.

NAPA vs Other parts stores.

Being an owner of a NAPA Auto Parts store, I'm just looking for input, and this seems like the perfect place to get it as people on here are located all over the country and of all ages. I'm just wondering why people shop at other parts stores. In so many of the posts I read on this site, I see that...

Why not just go to NAPA first? Most parts, and most knowledgeable counter people (most of the time!), not to mention better parts. :joker

Re: Ballast Resistor Question

Just looked it up, the ICR12 is a bit of a rare part (only about 5 in the country). ICR12 has a 1.75 OHM rating, so go with an ICR13 1.82 OHM. It is a very popular GM resistor and should be in every store. Ive used it on my truck for years with no problems. The funny thing is, the ICR13 is more than...

Re: Who sells REPOP pigtails & light sockets 4 62-71 trucks????

We do at NAPA. If you want just the pigtails (wire lead replacement), the part numbers are LS6227(single lead) or LS6228(double lead). They are both around $2.50. If you are looking for the socket as well, we have those also. Just go into a NAPA store and ask to see their "Echlin Illustrated Parts G...

Sounds like the voltage regulator to me as well. My 67 did this forever until I replaced it (even after I replaced the alternator). The good news is that it shouldnt hurt anything :Thumbsup .

Re: Do they make replacement LEDS stuff for any of thes trucks?

Yes, they make direct replacement led bulbs for just about everything now. Check out www.superbrightleds.com for tons of options (brightness, beam direction, ect). NAPA even has direct replacement LED headlights now, but they are really pricy! $200+, but they sure look cool.

Royal Purple makes a product called Purple Ice and it will lower the temp 10-20 degrees, everyone who gets this stuff from us says it works great. Also you can put in a higher concentration of water, as it cools better than antifreeze.

Re: How heavy is to heavy?

I've hauled quite a bit in the bed of my 1/2 ton (at least 2000lbs) while doing landscape work, and the only thing that limited me was the tires I had on it at the time. I would recommend getting load adjusting shocks for the rear though, if you don't have them already, they help out a lot.

Re: starters?

Take the NAPA sticker off and no way in the world to tell the difference. Take it as you will, in the last 6 years, that NAPA one is the only one that has failed. Do you only look at the outside of trucks to determine if they are the same? Bummer that you got a bum starter :pale , but statistically...

Don't forget to add $40-$50 to those figures since you do not have the correct core to return. If you go new you wont have this problem. Re: Which shocks for a 67 P.W short wide 8 lug?

Why Ranchos? Maybe I don't know enough about them, but arent they for off road? I replaced mine with stock replacements (the premium option, not the cheepies) and they made a HUGE difference! My truck came with the camper special package so it had load adjusters on the rear. I replaced with load adj...
