floor dimple measurement needed

Post by wally426ci »

Can someone with clean floor pans (front cab mount area) measure the diameter of the "dimpled area-where cab mount bolt goes through" as well as the depth?

Mine are a little too eaten up for an acurate measurement. I was gonna get the measurement to a fellow member if the dimensions work out for it... :thinking

:salut

I figured someone else would jump on this?! Anyway, I gave it a shot today, hopefully this helps. My floors are FAR from perfect...

I did the '68 mostly to check if they changed sizes with the cab change. That one is hard to tell as someone "fixed" the floors with chicken wire and bondo...

I forgot to measure the dept for you. Have to go pull the carpet up again tomorrow for you.

Hey Wally, Here are a few shots of the front cab mounts on my 69 D100, :salut

Not the best pics, but hope they will help you out in what your looking for?, this is why I drive a truck for a living and not a photographer   :shame

Looks like the holes are 3-1/2" dia and 3/8" deep? give or take

What's interesting about the last batch of photo's is the dimple is not round.

They are not round in my photos either, it is just harder to see. It is the outer/forward part is squared off. Both on my '68 and '69.

69Adventurer, those pictures are better than mine, and I dabble in photography quite a bit!

Thank you for the compliment But I think it has more to do with the camera rather than the operator :joker :joker

I guess I have to do some hammer/dolly work.
Might take the easy way out and just be grateful I have a solid floor again.

You know ufo, if you are no longer happy since those patch panels aren't 'correct', feel free to send them my way! I'm not particular...

I think I can live with the slight incorrectness.

My mounts are rusty as well. I'm wondering if the dimple is critical to the repair.
I was planning to just slip a flat panel in there from below.
Will I run into a problem??

Cageman was just talking about this on another thread. He left his patch panel flat, and used big washers to make up the difference underneath. The downside is the bolt head will stick up, making a bump under your carpet or rubber mat.

edit: I just found the thread: http://sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.p ... 1&start=15
