Bought a '71
This was at a dealership, they said it had just come in in the morning and there was rust in the gas tank so it was going to the scrap yard. I looked at it... big block (383-2bbl), bucket seats, 83k original miles (they told me) and so I bought it. Cost was about $375 said and done.
Are the bucket seats rare?
The headliner looks moldy. Is there a replacement for it?
Also, there is a circular hole in the door for a door speaker. Is that standard or did someone add it?

Looks solid! Nice score. I've seen similar buckets in lifestyle trucks before, I'd say they are fairly uncommon in those, don't know about the Sweptlines.

That didn't take very long.Bucket seats are rare,AFAIK no speaker holes in the door.Headliner ,if it's the type that has the trim around it you can use it as a pattern. The basket weave style I'm not sure if it's available.
This forum is not as busy as the other one we both use so answer's take a little longer to come.

Alright, another member in Spokamojo! I'll look for you around town.
Their are a few members located in Spokane and lots around the Northwest.
I'd say you got a great deal. I've seen those seats in earlier sweptlines but not in later trucks.
They may have been tranplanted!?
The rest of the guys would be able to tell you for sure.
Welcome to the site, The site Members sure helped me in my restoration.

Re: Bought a '71
I figured the bucket seats would be one of the first things to go if it went to the scrap yard, as well as the '71 383 motor, rear axle and trans.
My plan is to just not put a lot of money into it. I have other projects that take my money. It would be cool to have a "The Dude" replica since it's a '71, but we'll see, probably not as I own it.
I just wanted to save it from the scrap yard and get it back on the road where it should be.

If I lived in the North West I'd be in trouble. You guys can find nice trucks for almost nothing. Yes the bucket seats are rare. So is the A/C and power brakes unless it is a Camper Special which would have P/B as standard equipment. I can't tell for sure if that is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton but I'm thinking 1/2 ton.

Re: Bought a '71
I've put about 100 miles on it, changing the cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, oil, filter, air filter, PS belt and Alternator belts. So far it looks like the only issues are...
1. About four inches of slop in the steering
2. Something is leaking just inside the left front wheel for the power steering
3. Died twice at idle at a stop light and gets flooded. Could be a choke issue or too much fuel like a stuck float
4. AC is not hooked up
5. Heater core leaks (bypassed)
6. Temp Gauge inop.
7. Dash lights (other than turn signals and high beam) don't work.
8. Should there be a shift indicator light on the column? Doesn't work.
Other than that, it runs and drives great. No smoke out the exhaust.
So two questions. What's it worth and what is the capacity of the gas tank?
