Which Brake light switch

Post by ZAR »

Which switch am I supposed to have on my 64? The pressure style or the mechanical switch at the brake pedal. Right now my truck has the one down by the pedal but when I went to NAPA to order a new one they came up with a pressure switch. If my truck is supposed to have the pressure switch then any ideas why it was converted? Thanks

The one at the pedal. Some of the earlier "Power Giant and Pilot House" truck had the pressure type switch.
MAYBE even a few 61 or 62 Sweptlines as they would have used up parts on hand.
SOMEBODY will correct me if I'm wrong.

OOOOOPS.. almost forgot. There is a pressure switch on the brake proportioning valve down between the frame rails.
It lights up the little red light in the dash by the light switch when there is unequal pressure between the front and rear brakes.

64 Should just be mechanical at the pedal. There isn't a red light for the preassure switch on the 64 unless yours has been added? :thinking

No red light on the dash other than one that seems to be added for the parking brake that flashes when it is set.
