This is the newer yard in Lithonia. They have the older vehicles in their own section and they don't get crushed as quickly as the newer vehicles.

Re: I sold my truck...

Did you give him the CD? You were my first CD customer if you remember! Congratulations on selling it. Good luck on the new truck too. Jim My bro in law doesn't have a computer so there's no need for me to give it to him. I'll hold on to it just in case. This was my third Sweptline so you never kno...

Re: can't open drivers side door

I did it from the inside with a long screwdriver. I know what you mean about not being able to see anything inside these doors, they weren't made to be easy to work on. The pic I posted earlier is from a 69 so your 65 might be slightly different but the principle should be the same. You might try dr...

PM sent. The fenders wouldn't be worth the cost of buying them and shipping due to rust on the front lower edge.

I'm with Ben. What type of stereo gear did you buy. I have a Fisher CA-862 setup in my home office and it's great. It has a linear tracking turntable which is perfect for transferring records to CD's. I don't know how old it is as I didn't buy it new.

Re: Need trim reference

Great! That's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Since mine is an Adventurer Sport and also had the lower chrome trim along the bottom and around the wheel openings, I assume it had the welded studs. I got the can of all of the plastic clips along with the moldings when I got the truck, but I'll proba...

Re: Need trim reference

That's a beautiful truck. I love that upper trim on a Sweptline and don't know why anyone would go to the trouble to remove it. I went to a lot of time and expense to find a set to put on mine. It originally came either factory or as a kit that the dealer added on. If it's factory it had the welded ...

Re: can't open drivers side door

Before you cut anything you might try this. I don't have a 65 so this pic is from a 69, but I think the latch is similar. latch2.jpg The ratchet wheel must be able to turn for the door to open. Try sticking a long screwdriver in and twisting it to move the detent out of the ratchet wheel. Put the bl...

Re: I sold my truck...

You told me a guy was going to buy it but didn't say it was your brother-in-law. Was that the same guy? I hope you find something that better suits your needs/wants. Not the same guy. I went to visit my Bro-in-law last week and mentioned that I was going to sell the truck. He asked how much and whe...

I sold my truck...

Been considering it for a while, even advertised it on CL about a year ago. I hate to let it go but I've had it for 13 years and just want a new (older) toy. My brother in law bought it so I will still get to see it occasionally, even drive it if I want to. He lives up in NW Ga about 150 miles away....

Re: Body by Dodge. Power by Jag?

I drive a 2000 Isuzu NPR with a 4 cyl diesel and I've often thought about how it would do in a Sweptline. Buy why mate it to a GM transmission when it already has an automatic OD tranny available. I know it's a good engine and tranny because the one I drive has not been taken care of and never had a...

I think he's talking about the threaded portion of the axle housing itself. It might be replaceable but wouldn't be cheap.

We enjoyed the visit, Bill. I'm glad you made it home OK. Wish we'd had a little longer so we could have gotten together with a couple of other Sweptliners around here.

Re: Rear axle and wheel lost on highway today

The pic above should give you a good idea of what you need to do. If the threads on the end of the axle don't appear to have been damaged I'd say you are lucky. I hope the brake backing plate didn't hit and become damaged. It isn't a big job at all to replace the drum and hub. Apparently the lock fo...

I was on a plane with Marty Stuart from Ohio to Maryland back in 2003. I think I was the only one who recognized him. :Thumbsup Very cool for you guys!! :clap Wasn't Marty Stuart Johnny Cash's son in law? At least for a while? Married to RoseAnne Cash? I always like his songs and wished he'd record...

Bill just left on his way back to Iowa. He's planning on taking pretty direct route so probably won't get to see too many more forum members. He has to be back at work Friday and there's a lot of miles to cover between now and then. Lawrenceville, Ga is a pretty good way from DesMoine, Ia. John, loo...

Re: Bill's Crazy Adventure (soopernaut)

Bill managed to drop by on his way north. We had a good visit and talked Sweptlines like Sweptline owners do. Took a couple of pics but it was getting too dark for a test drive. We'll save that for the next visit.

I was on a plane a few years ago and Eric Clapton was sitting a few rows up. Yep, in tourist class!

Erik, how long has it been since I've seen you, six years maybe? I wouldn't have recognized you now that you've added a few (quite a few :joker ) lbs. That's three good looking ladies in the pic.

Anyone have this truck?

I bought a 69 owners manual a few years ago off of Ebay. The vin of the truck that this manual came with is 1187139402. Sold in Carlinville, Il on 12/18/69 to C. A. Chapin by Starr Motors, Inc. Does anyone by chance have this truck? The manual came with a warranty book and operating instructions for...
