John, I believe the hood latch changed between 69 and 70. On my 69 you reach through the grill to open the hood, but I believe the 70 -71 latch sticks out the front above the grill.

Congratulations

Congrats Eric, I hope everyone is doing well. Time flies, doesn't seem like that long ago that your first little bundle of joy arrived.

That is one nice looking truck. Does the transfer case bolt directly to the end of the transmission, or does it have a short driveshaft between it and the transmission? If it has the driveshaft it is older than 86. I believe this changed in the early 70s. Does it have disc brakes on the front? If so...

Too bad about the fish, but most people I know were happy when their Vega got away. Vega's made neat race cars but stock ones were bad news in the durability department.

I didn't see the truck but it sounds like Joe Molner from Miami bought it. Yea, he's moving up to north Florida pretty soon. I sold him a few left over parts when I converted my truck to four wheel drive. He checks the forums regularly but doesn't post much I don't think. He's putting together a lot...

Running gear

The running gear is from a 70 W100. It's all rebuilt but is all stock 70 stuff. I bought a whole truck for parts and it turned out to be a lucky break. Someone had already put a 440/727 in it. The engine was gone but I got the short tailshaft 727 and the other parts I needed for the conversion. The ...

Before and after

This is a before and after pic of my truck if it works. I retired at the end of 1999 and spent the first six months of 2000 rebuilding everything and converting it to 4X4. Also built and installed a 440 from a 76 Chrysler. Since then I've added Prototech steering. Next project is power brakes. http:...

Good to see you back

Glad to see you're getting back into the truck. Mine still looks pretty much the same but now has power steering and soon will have power brakes. I would have emailed you along but couldn't get it to work after you changed your email address. Drop me an email or give me a call sometime, 770-985-0109...
