Re: Photos of your truck being a truck
hehe used mine to bring home the wood for a garden bed a few months ago.
I do use it to haul bikes pretty often, the bed is getting a few scratches from it.

Re: Parts cleaner
I know this sounds crazy but with motorcycle carbs I have had good luck soaking them in water. Yep, just plain old water. Takes a long time but it works to remove varnish, etc. You can add simple green but it's not kind to aluminum.

Re: Electronics/Diode Question
Do you have a picture of the Diode? Usually a rectifier from AC to DC uses four diodes, you could replace all four with a rectifier. Here are some 10A rectifiers, for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-50A-1000V-Metal-Case-Bridge-Rectifier-SEP-KBPC5010-/290629696057?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4...

Re: So I bought a skull saver dash pad thing.
Mine has that, it's ugly. It is a '67-'68 thing. There are special dents on the dash that the brackets fit into - it covers the ashtray on earlier dashes.

Re: So in the quest for a working gas gauge, I've gone
No that means you have a bad fuel gauge (regulator is inside the gauge). Bring your truck over here and we'll find the right parts to make it work! I guess it could also mean that both of your gas and temp senders are short circuited or bad, but that's way less likely than a bad fuel gauge. Did you...

You're right, I just looked at my D100 brakes. The drum is behind the hub.

Re: Wheel bearing problem - need advice
Outside, there's no way it would fit on the inside. New bearings did nothing. However, I am starting to think it is something to do with the drum and studs. The machine shop that did my studs last time did not swedge them in and the drum is loose like on a modern rear axle. Maybe the drum is moving...

I think they are OK - I was just checking them today. I'll let everyone know what happens after I put the new studs in.

Re: Wheel bearing problem - need advice
I'm thinking the shoulder on the studs is too tall and the lug nuts are bottoming on it, allowing the drum to move around. The machine shop back in CA used longer studs because they couldn't find originals. So I ordered the correct ones (Dorman 160-220) and I'm going to install them. I'll let everyo...

Wheel bearing problem - need advice
OK this is a long post but I'm stumped! I got the truck back together the other day (new king pins, added power steering and new axle u-bolts) and took it down to Boulder (12 miles) for a test run. The power steering worked wonderful, it makes it 1000x better to drive (especially parking). When I ex...
