Re: Several 70 Wiring Questions

Thanks. That's a start. The black one off the back of the fuse looks homemade, and didn't connect to anything, so I wasn't sure if it did anything. On picture 5, which post does the white one connect to? In other words, what is the letter for the white one? I couldn't find anywhere that tells which ...

Re: Ignition switch

What's marginal? Is it really worn? Sometimes the ignition just needs some lube. I have sprayed a little WD40 and worked it, then blown it out with compressed air and that has helped.

Several 70 Wiring Questions

I printed and looked at the 70 wiring diagram from here http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=27800 but I still have a few questions. I changed wiring directions (Again) on my truck when I was given a 70 parts truck that has a mostly intact wiring harness. Much easier than adapting th...

That is cool! I am torn between trying to find a perkins and build the 440. There is a guy on several forums with an old ford with a perkins in it. Makes me want on  What kind of fuel economy do you get? Does it pull pretty well?

Nice. They just changed fast here. I swear it wasn't a week ago everything was still green, and now there's a bunch of yellows.

Re: Gauge Cluster.

Sorry for the horribly late reply. Somehow I missed your post. Anyway, I used Henry's mobile home roof coating, and it stays a little rubbery. There is no smell, and it cleans up with water, IIRC, so it is pretty user friendly. I am happy with it so far.

Re: 3M Removal Discs

This is what I've used with good results. I've tried the other kind of wire wheel that isn't twisted and it doesn't do much before all the wires break off. I thought this was going to do too much damage to the metal but that isn't the case and the wires stay on much better than the other kind. I al...

Re: Gauge Cluster.

I did. It sat out over the winter. The coat where I mixed in the glass beads for sound and heat insulation seems to have slightly colored. Overall, it is holding up well, and looks a lot live vinyl. I can't remember if I posted a picture in my build thread or not.

Re: Sound proofing stuff

I have used U Seal Band from Home Depot. In fact, I just put a bunch in the Dodge today. I also used it in my ford, but I didn't do anything but the firewall, so I don't know how much it really helped. From reading on line it is supposed to be a good alternative to the more expensive stuff. Time wil...
