Re: Daily Driver Photos
2013-06-24_003.JPG Any day of the week I pick and choose which car I'm going to drive. I try to drive the Barracuda every couple weeks but right now it is my out of town car. The Polara is my true daily driver but due to some needed work I avoid out of town runs. The truck is still in the middle of...

If you are still running points they may need adjusting.

Re: Should these be like this??
Drag Link is the front to rear bar that goes between the pitman arm on the steering gear and the wheel.
Tie Rod is the left to right bar that ties the two wheels together.
Just so the original poster is clear what people are talking about.

Re: Engine Computer---follow up
The “Computer” (not Electronic Ignition) that came out in the 80’s which lead to Fuel Injection being practical, but when the computer was first introduced it was for emissions (like was the electronic ignition). Many of the earlier computer modules were in cars that still had carburetors.

My only comment is if you have a 3/4 ton the stock wheels will not work, I tried both the 72+ and the original 16" split rings.

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
I may still look at the Chevy and Ford wheels to see if there is a difference in how they fit. I think the center holes on chevy stock steel wheels are too small for our Dodges. :2cents John With the rotors mounted the center register is useless (on the front). The only thing that keeps the rotor c...

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
Well it looks like I'll be getting different wheels. Even with a 1/2" spacer I still have rubbing. I still would like to try a Ford and/or Chevy wheel to see if they are any different but I doubt it. As much as I'd like to keep the stock wheel on the truck they just will not work and I don't see mod...

If I have to I'll look at aftermarket wheels but rather have stock steel wheels.JimE wrote:MrMopar here are the after market wheels came from a Ford E-250. Jim

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
I have looked at that, these wheels are riveted and the area where they make contact with the rim doesn't leave much room. I do plan on looking into it more with someone that can do it.Johninky wrote:Could also cut the centers from your wheels, relocate 1/2",reweld the centers and call it done.

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
And on the master the larger reservoir (the rear one) goes to the front brakes (the disc calipers). Since disc brake pistons are larger they potentially need more fluid in reserve. Yes but on this master the smaller reservoir is to the rear. Alan Weird, must be different from the cars. You could al...

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
That sounds tough - I looked through the Dorman catalogs a while back and there just is not much that will work on the D200 hubs because of the odd knurl diameter. You might have a machinst ream them for a larger stud. But I'm more interested in your caliper clearance issues - have you talked to th...

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
Ok, I mounted the wheel using the washers so that I could measure the studs and see what I'll need. With the wheel locked down I marked to stud (there is a smooth part on the end) then removed the wheel. I then threaded the nut back on to see how much bite I was getting, it was a 1/2" on 1/2" dia st...

Re: Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
I took a bunch of fender washers (temporary) and put a bunch on 3 of the studs and tried. Removing one from each stack till it jammed and the wheel would not spin. Putting 1 back one each and testing again using to other wheel to confirm no scrapes I ended up with a 1/2" stack of washers to get it t...

Scarebird - The good the bad and the ugly
Well I just finished up (sort of) installing the Scarebird brake adapters on my D-200. The good, well made parts, disc brakes. Overall I had no problems installing the brakes. I had to track down a swage cutter and go to the only machinist in town (NAPA here no longer has a shop). It took a little g...

The head is too big, they need to sit flush in the adapter plate.mtolivecracker wrote:thanks, i will be attempting this soon i hope.
I was wondering why the botton 2 bolts need to be machined?
My machinist also chamfered the lower two holes in the adapter plates as these bolts have a fillet on them.

All Chrysler products in the 60's, I don't know when they started it or when they ended it but you can pretty much guarantee the 60's were lefts and rights.
My 1970 truck is so they went to at least that.

Re: Road Trip Lompoc, CA to Astoria, OR
Dont be on 101/680/80 anywhere near commute times or u will lose HOURS! The entire route between Gilroy and Vacaville sucks all to hell. Although I'm from SoCal I know the area all too well. The plan is lunch in that zone so we should be good. Other than the construction in Salinas and Prunedale I ...
