Re: GSA Auctions lots of Dodges listed in OK

Kyle, I was referring to the use of the term "crank" in place of "start". "See if it will crank" sounds right to me but someone on the other forum got bent out of shape when I used that term. But then, he didn't like me calling them "freeze plugs" either.

Re: GSA Auctions lots of Dodges listed in OK

If you want a 70's Dodge W200 (M880) that would be a good place to go. Fun site just to browse through. "they just don't bother to turn the key and see if it will crank." Kyle, that statement sounds perfectly normal to me but I got ridiculed on the other site for saying that. Maybe it's a Geor...

Re: Sweptline Moulding/Molding Clips Help!

part numbers on large ones are 963226 6002752.....part numbers on small ones are p-4313....this is what is stamped on the few I do have. Interesting. I never saw that P-4313 number on any of the plastic clips that I had. Most of my lower clips had the 6002752 number moulded into them, but only the ...

Re: Sweptline Moulding/Molding Clips Help!

I don't think you are ever going to find those plastic clips that hold the upper trim on a 69-71 Sweptline. There's no p/n moulded into them like the lower clips have, and there's no p/n for them in my parts manual. Original one are useless as they break and to my knowledge no one reproduces them ei...

Re: Nice old Dodge truck I saw in Thomasville GA

Nice old Dodge truck. I read that the Cherry Bomb Utiline truck came from a dealer somewhere down that way. I wonder if it's the same one.

In the first pic the sign in the truck says it's in Cairo, Ga. That's pronounced kay-ro down there, not like ki-ro in Egypt.

Re: How to remove rear drums '64 D100?

When using the puller like shown in the picture, you don't actually pull the hub off by tightening it. You tighten it as described with a hammer, then hit it on the end with a hard blow and the hub will pop off. Don't be gentle, hit it straight on and firmly. If it doesn't pop off the first or secon...

In my post above I was not implying that anyone here on the forum is dumb, just trying to make the point that knowledge, most any knowledge, is good. I won $200 in a trivia contest once, so you never know when the most seemingly insignificant fact might come in handy for you.

Definately history is important. As for diagramming sentences, haven't made much of a living with that knowledge. Bucky Boons and Bucky: "Oh What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive". (Shakespeare). I'm almost 69 now and I remember this from senior high 1959. There's a good li...

Re: Dash - Brake Warning Light Bulb?

That light doesn't come on when the parking brake is engaged. It only comes on when there is a failure in the front or rear brake systems. There is a block that is often mistaken for a proportioning valve but it's real purpose is to detect uneven pressure in the front/rear brake systems. It comes on...

Re: I sold my truck...

OK, after looking at several trucks this last two weeks, I've settled on a 55-57 chevy. Anyone know where a good one is? Preferrably with a wrap around rear window. One thing I've found out is that Dodge didn't own all of the rights to rust.  It seems that they all have "the usual places"...

Re: Need Sweptline Front Bed Frame Mounts

On a W100 there's only two brackets that attach to the frame, and they are only "L" shaped flat bars. The rest of the mounts are simply holes in the top of the frame where the bolts go. It looks like you could easily make new brackets out of flat bar. This might be easier than using used ones. You c...

Just curious, but who shipped it and how much did it cost. I'm "truck shopping" now and it seems that all of the trucks I'm interested in are a long way off.

Re: I sold my truck...

Thanks for reminding me of that, but I don't think I can make it this time. I have a couple of local trucks I want to look at this weekend. One is a 56 Ford and the the other is a 57 Chevy. I think the Ford is too rusty but the Chevy looks good. I'll know more after I see them both.

Don't order from any service that sends the order to a local florist. Next time call ProFlowers, they are the best from my experience. Or just go to a local florist and buy the arrangement yourself so you can see what you are getting first. No Terry, my wife isn't my mother but I send her flowers an...

Re: Parking Brake

All Sweptlines had parking brakes, but the type brake used changed about 1965. The pre 65's, or about that year, had a drum on the rear of the transmission with a band that clamped around it when the brake was applied. It worked fine as long as the driveshaft was in the truck. After 65 Sweptlines ha...

Re: engine color - '69 318

In the "Dodge Pickup Color History" book there is a pic of a black 69 D100 with 18K miles and stated as all original. The 318 engine is either orange or faded red in that truck. When I got my 69 the 318 engine was blue, but it had been recently rebuilt. It was the original engine but the color could...
