What is the stock track width of a 63 ? When did it change to independent front suspention ? And was that the same track width ?

I seen a story on putting a 73-86 jag front end in a 56 ford F-1. It looks like this would work for D 100 as well. If anyone would like to check it out it was on the Hoky @#% Message Board.

472 in my 63 D100 shorty big window truck.

Not trying to steal the thread but I have a 63 d100 shorty with a 318 poly and 4 speed but am also thinking of the A518 swap. Has any one done this and if so is the A518 elec. shift ? how about hooking to 63 speedometer ?

So should I get a 1965 housing and backing plates and go from there ? Are they the same dimensions ?
