Re: Carb Question

Try replacing the condenser and adjusting the point gap (or replacing the ECU if you have the later electronic ignition)), then replace the ballast resistor.

Re: Toasted another voltage regulator

Just a bit of clarification: I only was proposing grounding the green wire's field lug so that I could charge up the battery enough so that I can continue starting it to move it as necessary. I wasn't considering leaving it in that state!

Re: Toasted another voltage regulator

I just checked the fuse panel. Yep, the contacts are rusted on all tabs, so I cleaned them all. Still no change, however. The system sits at 12.05 volts whether the engine is off and the lights are on or the engine is revved and the lights are off. Since it's a dual-field alternator from a later mod...

Re: Toasted another voltage regulator

Thanks for the info. It's midnight now that I've finally gotten around to checking . I'll check the fuse in the morning and post the results of the investigation.

Toasted another voltage regulator

A few years ago I had two of the old-style mechanical voltage regulators quit in quick succession. Then the alternator toasted so bad that the diodes fell out and into the alternator, throwing copper and aluminum shrapnel down the side of my slant six. I eventually found a wire with cracked insulati...

Adapter fitting needed for dual-circuit master cylinder?

I own a 1965 Dodge D100 Sweptline. I'm in the process of swapping on a new dual-circuit master cylinder (NAPA 47-36221 made for a 1968 D100) and am lacking one part that I need to complete this project. I'm wondering if that one part even exists. I disconnected the rear brake line from the junction ...

Re: Single- to dual-circuit conversion details?

Thanks for the 4736221 NAPA number. I rejected the nonstock style offered by the other stores and ordered one of these OEM-look master cylinders today.

Re: Single- to dual-circuit conversion details?

Since I didn't have a core, buying a rebuilt unit would cost me about $30 so instead of taking the rebuild they had on hand, I ordered a new unit for just $5 more. I'm curious to see if that one will have symmetrically sized reservoirs. I'm not concerned with using a pressure differential switch; I ...

Single- to dual-circuit conversion details?

I'm swapping a 1968 dual master cylinder onto a 1965 D-100 with stock, unboosted drum brakes all around. I'll disconnect the rear brake line at the junction block nestled in the frame under the driver's feet, then use a union to connect it to the new line coming from the rear port of the new master ...

Re: Steering wheel nut torque?

Thanks for that info.

At least I had the presence of mind to put the tools at the front of the storage unit where I can get them.

Steering wheel nut torque?

I'm putting the steering wheel back in my '65 D100 and realized that my manuals are all in storage waiting for moving day another week or so away. Could someone remind me what the torque should be on the steering wheel nut?

Turn signal switch replacement

One brake light on my '65 D100 occasionally fails to light. Wiggling the turn signal lever often helps. The replacement turn signal switches (Mopar part numbers 1939389 or 2510945) are pricey (around $100). I've heard that the later '72-and-up switches are the same except for the addition of a four-...
