Re: Chevy MC conversion for 66 D200
Thanks, fellas. I appreciate the input. I figured out part of the problem - when I unpacked the MC the other day the half of the push rod that receives the brake pedal bolt was hidden at the bottom of the box. It may be a few weekends before I'm able to really get into this project, but I'll let you...

Chevy MC conversion for 66 D200
So I decided to convert to the MC/booster combination from a 1976 Chevy C30. I started collecting the parts this weekend, beginning with brake line, fittings, and the MC/booster. Here's my first question: the booster push rod has a male threaded end, but the push rod from the brake pedal assembly on...

Re: starter engages when battery is connected
Mike, thanks for saving me from myself. The ring terminal of the battery cable was touching the post to the smaller gauge solenoid wire. Ground the ring down so that it was well clear of the post, and everything appears to work as it should. Thanks again for your help!

Re: starter engages when battery is connected
The relay could be bad out of the box, I've had that happen before. I pulled the ignition switch, starter still came to life as soon as the battery terminals were connected.712edf wrote:Starter relay fried??? or crossed wires somewhere. Unplug ign switch & see if it makes any difference.

starter engages when battery is connected
So I'm getting everything hooked back up, and the starter fires up as soon as the battery cables are connected. I pulled the starter and had it checked - no problems. Any ideas? Are there some good ways to track down the gremlin?

Re: D200 brake rebuild
Robertod recently did a complete brake jod on his d200....maybe he can give you some pointers. Where in Houston are you? Chris. Just inside the loop in the Heights. Probably moving soon, though. Yeah I just did mine - pretty straightforward, all the parts are still avail. If it were my truck I woul...

D200 brake rebuild
I'd like some advice on rebuilding the brake system on my truck. This is a 1966 D200 with the 225 /6. When I bought this truck (a little over 9 years ago), it's engine was on the way out and the brakes only worked on two wheels. The engine has since been rebuilt, and I'm getting close to getting it ...

Re: radiator core mounts
The pics definitely help - thanks! So no fan shrouds on these radiators from the factory, eh? Have you had any issues with overheating?

radiator core mounts
In the process of getting a radiator built for the truck. The radiator I pulled out was not original and was rigged in place. Here's my question: are the radiator "ears" on an original radiator on the same face of the radiator as the water inlet/outlet? It seems like they should be in order to give ...

Re: aftermarket H20 temperature sender
That's a good thought, but I am trying to keep the existing temperature sender as well - I don't like dead gauges in the dash if I can avoid it.

aftermarket H20 temperature sender
Still putting the engine back together, and I'm planning to add some aftermarket gauges, including water temp sender. The probe on the new sender is too long for the existing tapped hole on the block (/6). I thought about drilling and tapping the water outlet (thermostat housing), but it seems too t...

Thanks for the advice. Good thought on the fork, too - I'll clip that on before I go any further.

getting tranny back together with bell housing
Any tips for getting the transmission reattached to the bell housing? I pulled the tranny today without a problem, but couldn't get it to seat again correctly when I went to reinstall. I didn't want to use the bolts to snug it together, in case the splines were not lined up correctly (seems like i c...

need new radiator
I'm putting my 1966 D-200 /6 back together, and it's time for a new radiator. The radiator I pulled out of the truck was not original and was in pretty bad shape, so I don't want to re-use it. I haven't had much luck finding an original radiator to rehab (and no luck finding a new one made to fit my...

javascript:emoticon(':salut') my neighbor in co has a point (in fact, the one time annually that i do see a sweptline truck, it is my proven habit to follow it to its destination, just to bend the ear of the owner - everybody likes to talk about their trucks) that said, i'm going to head down to the...
