Re: 1971 D100 Fuel Sending Unit Replacement
martincom-- Thank you for doing a detailed comparison of the OEM and aftermarket fuel sending units. This information is important to 1970 and 1971 owners now will only become more important as earlier versions of the D100 need recalibration or have sending unit failures. --WisD100 I took a look at ...

Re: 1971 D100 questions
--Martincom and PwrWgnDrvr-- I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but noticing frequent reference to the shop manual, which I have and supplement which I didn't think I had, I went looking on the bookshelf and found I have the supplement also. It looks like I better put my noses the the book and f...

Re: '71 rim size and color
Hi sixpak340--
I compared '71 Dodge color charts to the powder coating options available on new rims. Brite White seems the closest but I'm prepared to repaint the trim to match the rims if it comes to that.

Thanks Martincom and PwrWgnDrvr for the information. Do either of you know where I might find a supplement or addendum for sale?

Re: 1971 D100 questions
PwrWgnDrvr--
You're absolutely right about gas out the cap!
I see refence to the "FSM" and wondered what that was, then it occurred to me that FSM refers to the Factory Shop Manual. I have a FSM, does anyone know where I can get an addendum?
Thanks,
--WisD100

Re: 1971 D100 questions
Hi Guys-- Thanks for all of the '71 tank information! I've been told that the expansion tank is found in 1971 D100s only. There seems to be some disagreement about the inner tank's function. Some think that it is part of an early pollution control system and others think that it is a fuel expansion ...

Re: '71 D100 king pin thrust washer or bearing replacment
Hi soopernaut--
I checked vendor's application guides and found the the ball bearing units are typically found in big block trucks. It makes sense to me.
Thanks,

Re: '71 rim size and color
Hi Martin-- I carefully measured one of my truck's rims and the spare and recoded the backspacing number which also matches backspacing information I found at the rim manufactures so it should be correct. Regarding the color, I searched the net for 1971 Dodge D100 color information. I found several ...

Re: 1971 D100 questions
PwrWgnDrvr-- Thanks for the clarification on tank size and cab modification. I believe my truck was a BLM truck, it was originally light blue. I lived in Oregon at the time and it was generally understood the the light blue truck were ex-BLM. It is also a California truck with the pollution control ...

Hi Guys-- I have a warning, some information and a question. --I recently bought a set tires, had them mounted and installed on my truck. '71 D100 king pin thrust washer or bearing replacment
Hi Guys-- I'm rebuilding the king pins on my D100. It appears that the D100 has a 2500 lb. axel and three types if pivot thrust bearings available, non-metallic, bronze and ball bearing. Are all of these bearings interchangeable upon assembly? Also, does anyone have experience with the different typ...

Re: 1971 D100 questions
Martincom-- I've owned my '71 D100 since 1983. I'm darn near positive that my pick-up is original equipment. It's length from the top or the unit to the bend is 6.5" and from the bend to end is 12.5". I think that you have the original fuel pick-up for '71 23 gallon tanks. --WisD100 PS: You have a PM.

Hi Guys-- I hope that the experts on this forum can help me with several questions I have about my '71 D100. '71 D100 gas tank questions
Hi Guys-- I have a D100 that I've owned since the 1980s. It sat for a decade or so and now that I have more time I've decided to make it road worthy once again. One of the things on the to do list is cleaning the varnish out of the gas tank. I have a Bill Hirsch gas tank repair kit that I'm getting ...
