Re: 318 Ignition/Start Issue
Hi folks, Bad starter relay. My friend that helps me with the electronics on these rigs got a chance to help me check this yesterday. His day job is an auto electronics tech (which means he is always helping friends on the weekend). FYI - We/he used the Power Probe III he got me to buy a while back....

318 Ignition/Start Issue
Have a 1967 W200 with a 318 that was "period" customized - Carter carb, Edlebrock intake, headers ... I upgraded to Petronix with their suggested coil. Added a new starter. Just changed all the plugs the fuel filter, charged up the battery (Optima) and it has been running great (had it out last week...

Re: Spare Tire Mount in the Bed
Hi folks, Update - Good progress Per the start of the thread, the spare tire mount became part of what I was doing/planning in the bed after I made it impossible to mount the spare underneath in the factory location because I moved the dual exhaust tail pipe exits further back behind the rear tires ...

Spare Tire Mount in the Bed
Hi folks, Completed a frame off restoration of a 1968 W200. It was a forest service truck with a Braden PTO winch on a heavy duty custom front bumper (used to build a log cabin at one point). Truck had a period farmers lift done on front and back that allows for some decent size tires. Because of th...

Re: Wiper Motor - Park Position
1. I have never taken the wiper motor apart 2. All the wiper arm connections to the motor arm are the same as on the working 1967. 3. All range of motion is correct when the wipers run. When you turn the switch off the wipers continue to run to return to a park position, but they stop before they ge...

Wiper Motor - Park Position
Even though there are a number of threads on wipers I thought I would start one on "Park" position to aid in search. Have seen "Park" wire and the word park mentioned in other threads ... Down to the horn (wiring in column) and wipers on a frame-off restoration of a 68 W200. I have a mechanically re...

Re: Electric Winch
That is the extra horn for the passenger. It runs to a push button on the dash that the passenger can push. There is also one on the column for the driver hooked to another horn. That slot setup would never work for this truck. The levers travel almost 8 inches. Have been looking at modifying a shif...

Electric Winch
Have a 67 W100 (318) that previous owner did a number of period modifications to ... He added an additional set of leafs to front and rear springs, Carter Carb, Edelbrock Intake, and headers. He also put an extra battery on the passenger side of the radiator and hooked it up via an isolator. I bough...

Re: Braden Winch repair?
Thought I would post to this thread even though it is over a decade old. I am near the completion of a 68 W200 frame off restoration. It has a Braden PTO Winch with custom front bumper. Custom period "farmers" lift with custom period ladder bars. It was a USFS truck that a millwright bought and used...

Re: OEM Battery Hold-Down
Interesting. You might find this interesting. Of the 4 Sweptlines I have 3 are short beds - 63, 66, 67. All had/have the larger axles (like the 68 W200 long bed I am working on). All have the same transfer case (2 have PTO winch setups) Per the tag, the 63 had a 225 slant six (gone when I got it) wa...

Re: OEM Battery Hold-Down
Thanks. So (without a picture) ... 1. The "hole" on yours is drilled down into the flat edge of the fender next to the battery tray. Not in the sidewall of the fender. Was wondering because one of the bolts on reproduction looks longer than the other. My 66/67 actual has a hole up in the sidewall of...

Re: OEM Battery Hold-Down
Appreciate all the detail of this thread. Great image. Does anyone have any pics of the fender side? Assume there is a hole or mount for the J hook/bolt. Reason - I am in the final stages of a frame off restoration of a 68 W200 that I I have put a 63 cab on (I prefer the twin headlights and "refrige...

318 - Fuel Line Route
Rebuilt a 318 engine on a 68 W200. Changed the intake and added headers. New fuel pump and alternator. Need to install a fuel hardline from the pump up to near the carb. Also have a 66/67 W200 short bed with a souped up (period/vintage) 318 - intake, headers, Carter 4 barrel. The fuel line on it com...

Re: Where did you mount your tach?
Stumbled across this post while doing some research on routing the engine side fuel line on the 318 i had rebuilt. Always something to do .... Have been doing a Painless rewire on a 68 W200 (Braden PTO Winch) that I stuck a 63 cab on because I wanted the twin headlight look. Wanted to upgrade the ga...

Re: need new fuel sending unit
I have bought a lot of stuff from Bud/visited his place in the Gorge. Great guy/source of expertise. Just checked with him about specs on a standard fuel sending unit because I am going to upgrade the dash panel/gauges on a frame off restoration I am in the final stages of of a 68 W200 (Braden PTO w...

Re: 68 Camper Special Instrument rehab
Pics would help. Am trying to figure out what type of sensor was used with the idiot light setup if I just want to reuse that. Also if there is a "period" way to replace it with an electric oil gauge and compatible sensor. If I could adapt the existing cluster and add a column tach is one approach I...

Re: 68 Camper Special Instrument rehab
Appreciate all the input. Will spend some time looking for the heavy duty cluster and exploring the 69/71 option. Main concern is to have the sensors in place so I can get the engine functional to safely run in a monitored fashion. So I can move it in and out of the shop under its own power. Re elec...

Re: 68 Camper Special Instrument rehab
Found this post while researching for a Painless rewire on a 68 Dodge W200. Old Forest Service truck that has a Braden PTO winch - 318 engine (rebuilt) ... pretty much a down to the frame restoration. The cluster is very similar to the one in this post, but it has an oil light, not a pressure line g...

Tailgate - Latch Release Rods
Have a "mutt" W200 - 66/67 short bed. Think cab and bed are from 2 different trucks. Need a new rod that attaches from the tailgate handle to the latch (drivers side). See various lengths on Dorman. Have the original, and the end piece that came off it. Can probably use it for measurement. Wonder if...
